Newyork - Central Park - Un gigantesco globo luminoso atterrato in una zona di Central Park, mette in allerta, prima le alte sfere direttive e militari degli Stati Uniti, poi l'intera opinione pubblica.
In gran fretta sono stati chiamati ingegneri, scienziati e altre importanti personalità, per cercare di studiare e dare un’interpretazione a quei fatti senza precedenti. Tra loro c’è anche Helen Benson, spetta a lei l’onore e l’emozione di un primo incontro ravvicinato.
In quel grande spazio inondato all’improvviso di silenzio e d’attesa, percepisce appena la presenza delle tante persone appostate qua e là dietro di lei. Militari, armi, telecamere, tutto sembra fermo in statica attesa.
