Una pellicola dai contenuti forti, che ci ricorda come la barbarie e la sete di potere, abbia toccato, in quel periodo, livelli d'indicibile ingiustizia e bestialità, ma pone l'attenzione anche su quella parte di bontà che, per fortuna, può albergare nell'animo umano e ha permesso, in quel contesto oscuro, di dare un contributo per salvare preziose vite. Quest’ultimo aspetto, è reso palpabile attraverso la performance recitativa di
Jean Reno e Mèlanie Laurent , che interpretano rispettivamente
il dottor David Scheinbaum e l’infermiera Annette Monod , persone straordinarie e reali, dotate di grande cuore, umanità e coraggio.
La cosa che prende ancor più del film, fino a toccare le corde più nascoste del cuore e della sensibilità, è il sapere che ogni fotogramma ricalca scene e avvenimenti reali, ogni persona della vicenda è davvero esistita, proprio per questo il dolore e l’ingiustizia sono ancora palpabili, inondano lo schermo e la mente e sembrano gridare, basta, questo non deve mai più accadere, che se lo ricordino i posteri.
Mantenere viva la memoria può servire anche a non commettere ancora gli stessi errori.
